Recipe
Apple and Blackberry Pie
A proper British fruit pie with buttery shortcrust pastry, soft Bramley apple, eating apple pieces and juicy blackberries. It slices neatly once rested and is made for cream, custard or vanilla ice cream.
This easy fruit crisp pairs jammy blueberries with a golden topping of oats, almonds and cinnamon. Serve it warm with yoghurt, cream or ice cream.
Heat the oven to 190°C, or 170°C fan, and set a baking dish on a tray.
Put the blueberries in the dish and toss with the granulated sugar, cornflour and lemon juice.
Mix the oats, flaked almonds, plain flour, soft brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Stir in the melted butter until the mixture forms a rough, crumbly topping.
Scatter the topping over the fruit and bake for 35–40 minutes, until bubbling at the edges and golden on top.
Rest for 10 minutes, then serve warm with yoghurt, cream or ice cream.
