Crispy Chilli Beef
Crispy beef strips tossed in a sticky sweet-spicy chilli sauce with peppers and onion — fast, bold and perfect for weeknight suppers.
This quick pepper steak brings together tender beef, crisp peppers and a savoury soy-and-oyster sauce. It is a straightforward stir-fry with plenty of flavour and is ready to serve with steamed rice in under an hour.
Whisk the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornflour and brown sugar in a bowl. Toss in the sliced steak and leave to marinate for 20–30 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.
Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large wok or frying pan over high heat. Stir-fry the steak in batches for 2–3 minutes until browned, then transfer it to a plate.
Add the remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry the onion for 1 minute, then add the red and green peppers and cook for 2–3 minutes until just tender.
Add the garlic and black pepper and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Return the steak and any resting juices to the pan, toss everything together and cook for 1–2 minutes until glossy and hot.
Serve the pepper steak immediately with steamed rice.
