Air Fryer Classic Beer-Battered Fish & Chips

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Cut the fish into serving-sized portions.
  3. Mix flour, beer, baking powder, salt, and pepper to create the batter.
  4. Dip each piece of fish into the batter, ensuring it's well coated.
  5. Place the battered fish in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with oil.
  6. Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
  7. For the chips, cut potatoes into strips and toss with a little oil and salt.
  8. Cook in the air fryer for 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden, shaking halfway through.
  9. Serve the fish and chips with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.

Ingredients

  • 700 g Baby Potatoes cut into chips
  • 600 g White Fish Fillets cut into portions
  • 1 tsp celery salt plus extra to season
  • 1 Preserved Lemon cut into wedges
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 120 g Plain Flour

Notes

Taste and adjust seasoning near the end for the best final balance.

If the sauce reduces too much, loosen with a small splash of hot stock or water.
