Hearty Pea & Ham Soup
This Hearty Pea & Ham Soup is all about comfort and depth: soft aromatics, sweet peas, and savoury ham in a warming bowl that feels substantial enough for a starter or a supper. Serve with crusty bread and butter for a complete.
Ingredients
- 1 stick Celery finely chopped
- 1 medium Onions finely chopped
- Black Pepper, to taste
- 100 ml Double cream optional
- 1 litre Chicken Stock hot
- 700 g Sugar Snap Peas frozen or fresh
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 300 g Ham diced

- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook 6 to 8 minutes until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds, then stir in peas, ham and stock.
- Simmer gently for 15 minutes until peas are tender and flavours are developed.
- Blend to your preferred texture, then return to low heat and stir in cream if using.
- Season with black pepper and serve hot with crusty bread.
Notes
For extra body, mash a ladle of peas against the side of the pan before blending.
Finish with black pepper and a drizzle of cream for a richer supper-style finish.
