One-Pan Spicy Sausage & Mac

This one-pan sausage mac is quick comfort food done right: browned sausage, sweet onion, tender macaroni, and a cheesy tomato finish.

Everything cooks in a single skillet, making it perfect for busy evenings when you want big flavour with minimal cleanup.

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the sausage until browned.
  2. Add diced onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
  4. Mix in uncooked macaroni and enough water to just cover the pasta. Cook until macaroni is tender.
  5. Lower the heat, and stir in grated cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes to taste.
  7. Serve hot directly from the skillet.

Ingredients

  • 300 g Sausage spicy sausage, sliced or crumbled
  • 400 g Tomato diced or canned
  • 600 ml Water or light stock
  • Black Pepper, to taste
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 medium Onion diced
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Flakes or to taste
  • 150 g Cheddar Cheese grated
  • 250 g Pasta macaroni, uncooked

Notes

Keep the heat at a gentle simmer so the pasta cooks evenly without sticking.

Add an extra splash of water if the sauce reduces before the macaroni is tender.
