Slow-Cooked Beef Short Ribs with BBQ Glaze

Slow-Cooked Beef Short Ribs with BBQ Glaze

These slow-cooked beef short ribs are all about deep flavour and tenderness. The meat cooks low and slow until it becomes meltingly soft, then gets brushed with a smoky-sweet BBQ glaze for a glossy finish.

They are perfect for weekend cooking or special dinners at home. Serve with mash, slaw, or roasted vegetables to soak up every bit of the rich sauce.

Method

  1. Heat oven to 160°C and season the short ribs generously.
  2. Brown ribs on all sides in a heavy pan, then set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté garlic briefly and add soy sauce, honey, and BBQ sauce ingredients.
  4. Return ribs to the pan, add a little stock or water, and cover tightly.
  5. Cook in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until the meat is very tender.
  6. Uncover, brush with extra glaze, and roast 10–15 minutes to caramelise.
  7. Rest 5 minutes, then spoon over pan juices and serve.
