Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole

This classic tuna noodle casserole is a true comfort-food staple. Tender noodles are folded through a creamy savoury sauce with tuna, then baked until hot and bubbling with a golden finish.

It is easy to make, family-friendly, and perfect for batch cooking or leftovers. Add peas or extra herbs for a fresh lift if you like.

  1. Heat oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
  2. Cook egg noodles until just al dente, then drain.
  3. Sauté onion and mushrooms in butter until softened.
  4. Stir in flour, then gradually whisk in milk or stock to make a creamy sauce.
  5. Add tuna, cooked noodles, and half the cheddar; season well.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish and top with remaining cheddar.
  7. Bake 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden on top.
  8. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 Onion finely diced
  • 120 g Mature Cheddar grated
  • 200 g Chestnut Mushrooms sliced
  • 300 g Egg Noodles
  • 150 ml Chicken Stock
  • 2 Garlic Cloves minced
  • 2 x 145 g tins Tinned Tuna drained
  • 200 ml Double cream

Notes

Always check seasoning and serve piping hot.
