Classic Italian Lasagne

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, cook minced beef until browned. Add chopped onions, garlic, and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in tomato puree, crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan, melt butter, add flour and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until sauce thickens.
  5. Layer lasagne sheets, meat sauce, and béchamel sauce in a baking dish. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with shredded cheese and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
  7. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

  • 200g Mozzarella shredded
  • 500ml Milk
  • pinch Nutmeg optional
  • 50g Parmesan grated
  • 50g Plain Flour
  • 30ml Tomato purée
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 50g Butter
  • 5ml Basil dried
  • 12 Lasagne Sheets
  • 500g Beef minced
  • 400g Tomato crushed
  • 5ml Oregano dried
  • 15ml Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • Black Pepper, to taste

Notes

For an extra touch of flavour, mix some grated Parmesan cheese with the shredded cheese for the topping Letting the lasagne rest before serving helps the layers set, making it easier to slice.
